Yoga embodies the most important features of oriental lifestyle. Yoga is a practical science for the emancipation of the self from ignorance and suffering.

True human nature is divine, perfect and infinite. We are unaware of our divinity, we feel imperfect, falsely identifying ourselves with our body, mind and the objects around us, subjected to sorrows, decay and death. This happens due to avidya (ignorance). When we overcome ignorance, we are relieved of our sorrows.

Yoga aims at human elevation from the lower to the higher strata through Samadhi (self-realization), which liberates the mind from all obstacles.

To know more about the various Yoga, please follow the below mentioned link:-

I'm irregular { you know...strange, odd, quirky }, but I'm a regular of yours. :P

Looking forward to all the posts you have coming! BTW, I think it's time to bring Tavis and George Michael together. They could teach us all a little something about Faith.

xoxo. :)

I'm curious if he had a recommendation as to the best time in a class sequence to add meditation. Beginning? End?

I've been trying to add more time for mediation and the end of the classes I teach, but I know a lot of teachers who prefer to have a longer meditation in the beginning.

Would love to know his opinion and your own.

p.s. and not just internal or external rotation but the angle of the neck of the femur. its length, and where the socket is -- front, back, off to the sides, deep, shallow, etc. should have added that before, sorry!

You probably know that I study with Paul Grilley and I've taken his anatomy classes many times over the years. His belief is that the ability for many people to accomplish lotus is due to the rotation of the femur head in the pelvis. Lotus pose starts in the hips and depending on how one is put together, they may easily do lotus or never do lotus. And never doing lotus should be fine because along with that comes acceptance of the body in whatever condition it is. Unfortunately, students and yoga teachers become stuck in paradigms that do not work for every body and that is when injuries occur.

Niceley said Nikki. Both your post and reply comment :)

I agree - that ad to me demonstrates quite a poor match between the car and yoga. And if it causes even one person to feel inadequate (one of the main agendas in non-ethical advertising!) then it's not a good use of yoga.

Yoga to me is something that makes people feel good. In fact, Mark Whitwell says: "If it doesn't make you feel good, then it's NOT yoga".

Of course, what makes us feel good is very subjective. Which is why there's all kinds of yoga, right?

Bob,

You can go ahead and repost this in your blog as a guest post. At this time, I can only manage one blog (barely). In the future that will probably change. Thank you for asking me to write for Elephant, it's a great compliment.

I've read your comment on Brook's blog. I'm not sure what your request of me is besides reading it. I'm not sure how I can participate in the conversation at Elephant, because it's not clear to me what the topic and intention is.

If it's about opinions, well, everyone's got one, and there's no use in arguing with someone's opinion. If it's about a debate, then what are we debating about, and what is the intended outcome of the debate? If it all boils down to, as you said, "let it all explode in every direction" then, well, that's what we've already got, in which case my participation won't add any more explosion. :)
